Weather resistance, weatherproofing, and an extremely long service life: these are just some of the advantages that our beams made from recycled plastic offer over wooden beams. While the non-biodegradability of plastics poses a major problem for the environment, the long durability of hanit® building materials is an advantage for customers. Recycled plastic hanit® – quality building material made in Germany
During the production of hanit® recycled plastic, short-lived packaging is turned into high-quality building materials that have been awarded the "DER BLAUE ENGEL" environmental label. Innovative recycling turns a plastic bag, for example, into a park bench that will last for many decades. But hanit® not only scores points for sustainability; the plastic beams also offer various advantages in terms of processing. When handling hanit® recycled plastic beams, there is no health risk from harmful substances or risk of injury from splinters. Our beams made of recycled plastic can be processed like wood (drilling, sawing, screwing, nailing...), but care and maintenance work such as sanding and painting is not necessary. Due to their resistance to decay, plastic boards made of hanit® recycled plastic are particularly suitable for use in damp and muddy environments.
Processing instructions for our recycled plastic beams
When installing hanit® plastic beams, please note the temperature-dependent length variations of the material (up to +/- 1.5%). When screwing our beams together, the board to be fastened should be pre-drilled. The hole should be larger than the screw to allow for the temperature-related expansion behavior of the hanit® material. Due to increased tool wear, we generally recommend the use of carbide-tipped tools for working with hanit® products.
