In 1978, the first tree protection tubes were installed by Graham Tuley and the British Forestry Commission. The main objective at that time was to support the reforestation of Great Britain after forest stocks had been severely depleted during the Industrial Revolution. Since then, Tubex has conducted intensive research into the benefits and application of tree protection tubes. Independent test fields have been set up in many different countries and cooperation has taken place with various research institutions.
The advantages at a glance
- Reliable protection against browsing, rubbing and bark stripping damage.
- Optimal growing conditions inside the sleeve thanks to a double-walled tube construction and a patented ventilation system.
- Creation of stable stands with healthy root systems through the use of one- and two-year-old planting material with uncut root systems.
- Cost savings through a smaller range of plants, loosened planting pattern, increased growth success and reduced maintenance until the crop is secure.
- Highly efficient and flexible use on small to medium-sized calamity areas without prior removal of debris.
- Successful stand enrichment without costly fencing.
- Preservation of grazing areas and game trails through the use of individual protection.

Improved growth -

Higher growth success – individual protection enables the plant to grow healthily and stress-free. Various studies have been conducted on survival rates. The graph shows the percentage of oak trees that have died due to wildlife browsing.

Tubex products have been used in Germany in forestry, viticulture, gardening and landscaping since the late 1990s. Tubex is a British company that has been developing, manufacturing and distributing products for the protection of woody plants such as trees and vines for over 25 years.
In Germany, Tubex growth sleeves were used by German foresters as an innovative solution after storms such as "Lothar" and "Kyrill" for efficient and cost-effective reforestation. The Baden-Baden city forest, for example, was reforested with the help of Tubex growth aids, which made it possible to dispense with fence construction.
Tubex is delighted to be working with a large number of academic research institutions.
